Spring into our Hotdog tradition
We have few traditions in our family beyond the normal holiday events but one we do have has become a regular for us this time of the year. To bring in the spring season or at least the feeling that spring is almost here, we head to Port Dover.
For for all the things that is Port Dover, the
beach, the pier, restaurants, and cottages, the one thing that draws us each
year is “the hot dog”. You read
correctly, the hot dog but not just any hot dog but Willie’s. Oh yes, our dear readers, let us assure you
that there is nothing better than heading to the lake on a chilly but sunny day
to have that first footlong served on a fresh bun and layered with your
favourite condiments. It may be too cold to enjoy the beach or walk the pier,
but to have that first hot dog even if eating in the car, is our announcement
to the world that spring has arrived.
Hamilton Drink & Food Fest 2023
We spent the day at the Hamilton Food and Drink Fest or as Julia likes to call it, the Food and Drunk Fest. Our friend Bill joined us while his wife Deb stayed home with bronchitis... her company was truly missed. Lots of beer, wines and liquors too taste and plenty of food. Julia tried a samosa jerk chicken... Yup it was a bit to spicy and hot for her palette. And of coarse Bruce finished it off, the bison chili and corn bread was really good. A great day and back to the hotel for a short rest and then down stairs from the hotel to the Anchor Bar for wings and one more beer... LOL
Blues for Soldiers 2.0
Another Sunday afternoon watching one of our favorite entertainers, Shelly Anne Farris was singing up a storm at the Gunners Club "Blues for Soldiers". It was a great afternoon with our friends Bill, Deb & Ed
Blues for Soldiers
Sunday Julia & I along with our friends Bill, Deb & Ed went to the Gunners Club, Blues for Soldiers. To be specific an afternoon performance featuring Sean Kellerman who is an extremely good guitarist. We really enjoyed his performance along with the Howitzer Blues Band with John Mckinley, Al Richardson & Chris Nemeth, these guys are the greatest.
Blues for soldiers at the Gunners Club every Sunday afternoon. You can check them out on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/blues for soldiers/
